In a perfect world I’d be able to balance it all. Motherhood, housework, and having enough time for myself as I blog my life away, but the truth is it’s been a bit of challenge. I know it seems I only post every once in a big while, but if I’m being completely honest, by the time I’m able to catch a break & catch my breath, I’m exhausted to the point where I lack energy to do anything but rest in bed as I catch up on some of my favorite tv shows. But lately I’ve felt so inspired and motivated to get things back up and running, and I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am to create content again! Oh how I’ve missed this – I have a few things in mind, and I can’t wait to get more blog posts up for you guys this summer!
Last weekend, we finally made it to the Flower Fields in Carlsbad, Ca. I wanted to go last year, but for one reason or another we never made it until now. And let me just say that it was very worth the wait, the colors and the view were beyond beautiful. The weather was also nice & fresh which made perfect for a weekend getaway.
We left home pretty late and traveled a couple hours to get there, so we were only there a couple hours before closing time. Still, more than enough time to walk around, take in the beauty of the fields, and of course my favorite, take pictures!
We weren’t technically allowed to cross over into the fields, but anything for some pretty photos, am I right? I may or may not have gotten yelled at once or twice, but I promise no harm was done to these pretties while snapping some of these quick, risky photos. .
We spent the night in Carlsbad, and the next morning we went out for some Ike’s Love & Sandwiches, we did a little shopping, and eventually we ended up at the beach before heading back home. I tend to be an over-packer when traveling and I’m usually always prepared for any occasion, but for some reason, going to the beach just didn’t happen to cross my mind and we were a little unprepared in terms of beach wear. The littlest one, the hubs and I, watched our 2 eldest play at the shoreline while we relaxed in the sand. One in his pj shorts, while the other in his everyday regular jeans, you can only imagine how that turned out. Nevertheless, it was such a great fun day for the 5 of us. Spontaneous moments like these always end up being our favorite and it’s pretty safe to say that the boys had a blast. My toddler has been asking to go to the beach every day since we got back, & we just might take him in celebration of his upcoming 4th birthday! This time around we’ll be more than prepared, I already have their sand buckets in my trunk as we read!
Real moments don’t wait for the perfect lighting or golden hour to be captured in camera. They are meant to be truly lived, I’m just glad I was able to capture a glimpse into their favorite part of this trip.
I hope you all enjoyed some of the photos I shared of our getaway! And make sure to stay tuned for more, I have my very first OOTD post coming up next! (:
