Can you believe there’s only 3 months left in 2020? I can’t wrap my head around it just yet, but hey, I am definitely here for having better days ahead.

I wanted to share with you a few of my favorites that made life a little sweeter the month of August, things I’ve loved for the home & things I’ve loved using on a day to day basis. I already have a few favs lined up for the month of September, but I’ll save those for a later post.

House Slippers

French Press

I look forward to my coffee routine every morning since learning how to use a French Press. If you don’t have a French Press yet (or anything to make authentic coffee at home), I strongly encourage you to get one. There is something so special about taking the time to make coffee from scratch, and the coffee is honestly so much better.

Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer

My husband gifted me a stand mixer for my birthday this summer, and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve used it already. I know a lot of us have discovered a love for baking during this season in our lives, and I can really say I enjoy it and even find it therapeutic. It is an investment well worth it if you love to bake!

Casaluna Bedding

I’m sure that by now you’ve heard of Target’s new bedding line Casaluna, and I was able to get my hands on the comforter I had my eye on when it first launched. It is linen and neutral and just about everything I was looking for in a comforter. Loving all of their neutral and cozy bedding.

Dream Big by Bob Goff

I’ve really enjoyed reading this book! I mentioned it in my last blog post, and although it’s taking me quite some time to finish it (insert friendly reminder that I’m one busy mom here), it has been very inspirational to read. If you’re looking for something to motivate you to start and chase your dreams, you can’t go wrong with this book!

I love starting my mornings with this devotional book. Paul Tripp has a way to break down the word beautifully in every page. I definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a devotional book.

Bethel Music Revival ‘s In The Air

I can’t believe I am just now listening to Bethel Music, but I’ve really been enjoying listening to their latest album. They have many great worship songs to chose from, but my current favorite is Champion. God of Revival is also pretty great!

Taylor Swift Folklore Album

I love how different this album is from her latest releases. RED has been my favorite album of hers for years, and Folklore definitely takes runner up. If you haven’t listened to it yet, what are you waiting for? It’s such a good album!

If you’ve been with me a while then you know I’ve been through my fair share of eye creams. This is the latest I’ve tried and it truly is the most effective one. To a Friend, From a Friend

The world looks a lot different today. Some of us have lost our jobs, and some of us are stuck at home filled with depression, anxiety, and fear of the unknown. Our entire lives have changed, and a lot of evil is being exposed as people become more aware of the ugly evil that has lived upon us all along.

Hi. It’s been quite some time now. More than a few months actually. Truth is, I haven’t given much thought to blogging, let alone make time for such a thing in a time like this. How have you been? How has this season treated you? It’s been one heck of a year and one whirlwind of emotions, am I right?

It really is times like these that open our eyes to what really matters in life. It’s times like these I hope make a shift in us to change and be better and DO better. Times like these have me clinging on to higher hope and His guidance.

Anyway, I hope you’ve used this time to dig deeper into who you are becoming, and I hope that you find yourself well, mentally. As for me, a lot has changed, yet some things seem.. the same. I started reading The Word a little more, and I really just want to grow my faith and build a relationship with The Lord. I can’t say it’s been an easy journey, & I’ve honestly just been in a battle with undoing and re-discovering who I am as a person and trying to become the woman God has called me to be.

I’ve been reading this one book called Dream Big by Bob Goff, and I’ve found it very inspirational and motivating. This book has been so inspiring that I find myself writing again at 11pm with no goal in mind for what I want this post to be about other than simply wanting to check in and say “hey”.

So, if you find yourself reading this, know you are not alone. Wether you finally opened up that business or you’re struggling to find your true calling and are literally just trying to survive these days, I see you and I wish nothing more for you than peace and love and light.

But if you are having a bit of a rough season, I want to encourage you to use this time to get in tune with yourself. Take baby steps if you have to, but do it. Find new hobbies and try new things. Get to know yourself again. Turn off your phone and LIVE.

There is something this season is teaching us, and I believe that something good will come from the hardships we face.

To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven. Ecc #:1

My favorite book of 2019 has to be A Love Letter Life by Jeremy & Audrey Roloff. It was so good I read it all in two days. It’s filled with so many good nuggets and I highly recommend it to anyone who is married, in a couple, and even to all who are single. Soooo good!

Preventing Burnout As A Mom

Hello friends! I’ve had this topic in mind for a while now, and I’m so happy to finally get the chance to sit down (lay beside my baby actually) and get to work!

Ironically enough, this topic came to mind just as I was feeling a little burnout myself, and now that I find myself in a better headspace, I can finally speak on some of the things that carried me on to better days.

-Learn to say NO:

Now that I’m a mom of four, you can only imagine how full my hands are on a day-to-day basis. Adding extra responsibilities to my to-do list is a big no no. As moms we want to make sure we’re only taking on duties that resonate with our lifestyle & the season we are currently walking. I learned to say “no” to certain events & people when I started to prioritize what was most important. Having too much on our plate can lead to burnout, so in order to stay sane we must subtract and not add to our list.

Say “no” to the unnecessary so you can say “yes” to the things that truly matter!

-Ask For Help:

You can do it all, just not all at once.

Acknowledging you need help can be a hard pill to swallow sometimes. I know this from experience when I once believed I needed to do it all myself, almost as if I had something to prove. If there’s anything I can tell you from this experience, is that it’s okay to ask for help. Shamelessly. Because as we all know it, it really does take a village. Raising tiny humans is HARD, and my gosh, I am so thankful to have a village behind me that helps out whenever they can, however they can.

When it comes to chores, simply divide or set tasks aside for your spouse & children to help you with. My oldest has a daily chore list he needs to complete before having any play or screen time. Even if it’s only one thing they help check off your list, it still helps you immensely while also instilling good habits on your child.

If you’re on the verge of feeling burnout because you’re constantly doing it all yourself, I really want to encourage you to ask for help. You won’t regret it!

-Make Time For What’s Important:

God. Family. Self-care. Relationships.

I find that I’m my best self when I make time for the people I love & when I make time for the things that are important to me. Being that I’m a mom of four boys, practicing self care is HUGE in my case, and squeezing in some “me” time allows me to refuel and recharge.

Make a list of the things that matter to you most, and MAKE time for them. Those are the little things that keep us grounded and makes us who we are.

Don’t let the tasks of your everyday life consume you. It’s important to disconnect to make room for yourself and the relationships that surround you.

-REST

I. Cant. Stress. This. Enough

We’ve all heard it a million times before and it seems so simple, but sometimes we tend to escape our reality by binging on our favorite TV show after a long day of work, and/or lose track of time scrolling as we “rest”. Make it a priority to put your rest before anything else, and go to bed early! If you’re constantly going to bed late & you wake up feeling tired every morning, you should probably take a look at your nighttime routine & make some changes. Getting enough rest will change the way you wake up in the morning.

As my friend Rachel Hollis likes to say:

“If you own your day, you own your week. And if you own your week, you own your month”

Over the last few months my heart has desired and craved more for this blog of mine. I’ve loved all things motherhood, beauty, and lifestyle for as long as I can remember, but I couldn’t be more excited to welcome and bring a new category to the blog. Hello Spirit & Soul. I’m already so passionate about it as I know this is where I’ll pour out what my heart & soul believe to be important, and I really hope that you enjoy it.

Rhythms, Rituals, and Routines

Are you a person who loves routine and has everything jotted down to a T when it comes to organizing your week and month? Or are you someone who likes to live spontaneously and doesn’t go through the trouble of having anything set in motion? Or maybe you’d like to get your life a bit more in order but have no idea where to start. Well my friend, if this is you, you came to the right place. I may know a thing or two about following routine, and I love it!

Following routine and creating rhythms has been key in helping me live out my day intentionally and helping me strive in all areas of my motherly role! Maybe you’re not a mom, but maybe you’re a full-time student or a full-time employee -maybe even both!- and trust me, creating your own daily rituals and applying them to your every day life does you wonders!

Monthly-

To start off, you’ve got to have a yearly planner or at least a calendar where you’re able to jot down all of your plans, appointments, events etc. every month. This will give you a better vision for all that each month will bring.

Weekly-

When I don’t forget, I tend to go over my planner over the weekend and I like to see if there’s anything special going on that upcoming week. Pick a day you’re able to go through your planner once a week, and if there’s anything you need to include & add to it, that’ll be the time to do it.

Setting and following a weekly routine is probably the most important one I have as a stay at home mom and wife. I’ll give you a few examples of how my week goes as planned:

Mondays: Flowers & Groceries Run + Errands

Wednesday: Story Time with my boys at a local book store

Friday: Car wash + vacuum,

tidy home & catch up on any housework before the weekend.

Weekend: Rest!! (Light housework if needed)

Side note*

I don’t have a selected day for any specific chores because I clean as I see fit, and I find that things happen and can change at any given moment when mothering 3 little boys. But, if you feel you need to and would love to implement a routine dedicated to chore days, go for it! Take what you can, add or subtract as needed!

Daily-

Now, everyone’s lifestyles are different, so feel free to accommodate some of the things I mention down below. These are things I’ve put to practice for some time now, and this is my daily routine as a Stay At Home Mom.

-Rise Early-

Oh my gosh, this. If you remember a few posts back, I stated how I wanted to implement waking up early as a part of my routine, and wow. Life changed, life made! I’ve discovered that getting an hour head start makes the world of a difference in my day. I am fully awake and in a much better head space by the time my kids are up, and I’m ready to tackle the rest of my day with a positive attitude. If you’re not a morning person, I recommend trying to wake up 15 mins before your usual wake up time for an entire week, add an extra 15 mins the following week, and repeat until you’ve hit your new desired wake up schedule! (This also means that you’ve got to hit the pillow earlier than usual to give your body the rest that it needs! Do it, it’s awesome, and you won’t regret it.)

-Practice Gratitude-

I probably sound like a broken record to those that actually read my posts, but this is essential in my daily routine, so there’s no way I’m going to leave out what actually happens at the start of my day. Journal, meditate, pray, you name it. Practice gratitude every morning by giving thanks for this new day, and for the air that you’re breathing. You are alive, and it’s the start of a new day with fresh opportunities. Meditate by simply having some quiet time, and allow yourself to focus on the importance of what this new day will bring.

-Hydrate-

I recently started doing this a couple of weeks ago, and I have to say that drinking a glass of water first thing in the morning instantly wakes me up while also hydrating my body.

-Plan Out Your Day-

I have a To-Do List pad I love that keeps me organized, and I love starting my days in my office space while I plan out my day and sip on some coffee. I split my day into three; mornings, afternoons, evenings, and I also prioritize my Top 3 tasks of the day. Having a nice little reminder to look back to helps me stay focused during the day and prevents me from being all over the place.

*Tip For Planning out your day or Quiet Time*

Create a space that inspires you and motivates you to push that start button as you envision what your day will look like!

-Quality Learning Time-

We just brought this ritual back into our household, and the kids and I love the quality time we spend by learning through play. Camilo is about to start Kinder this upcoming school year so we’ve been playing catch up on a few things to prep him before he starts! We spend about an hour working on a fun worksheet packet I put together for him that include letter/word tracing, coloring, & math.

-Laundry (if needed) –

I like to get started on laundry in the mornings as I proceed to carry on with my day. I know some people like to start with the dishwasher, and this is great too. Do whatever works best for you and your lifestyle.

After breakfast and following my morning routine, I proceed with chores, picking up Richie from school, making dinner, checking homework, and so on and so forth.

*Tip for moms who pick up their kids from school*

Leave your phone in your purse, take a book with you and get a little reading time as you wait! I like to leave my house at least half an hour before school is out so I can squeeze in a little reading in my day as I wait! This is a ritual I love incorporating in my weekdays as much as I can.

And that’s pretty much what my daily routine looks like during my weekdays! I know this post was a little long but I really wanted to entail as much detail as possible. Listening to Podcasts has become a part of my everyday routine, so today I’ll be sharing some of my favorites I look forward to throughout my week. There’s nothing like listening to a good piece of advice that leaves you inspired & motivated to evolve.

These are my Top 5:

-The Good Life With Stevie & Sazan

This podcast hosted by one of my favorite couples is probably the one I look forward to the most during the week. If you don’t know who Sazan & Stevie Hendrix are, they are a married couple who have strived their way through the influencer world, and are extremely down to earth with a lot of fun personality. They recently created this podcast to share powerful stories & conversations that will fill you with inspiration. Definitely recommend this podcast to anyone wanting to listen to their “good word of the week!”

-The Purpose Show with Allie Casazza-

I recently discovered this podcast a couple of weeks ago, and I have binge listened to a lot of her episodes ever since! Allie Casazza is a mother of 4 who’s on a mission to change the way motherhood is looked at by sharing minimalism tips to help simplify your life. She also shares her story to uplift any overwhelmed mama, and she shares loads of advice on how to live an abundant life with purpose. If you’re a mama you don’t want to miss out on this podcast!

-Rise Podcast with Rachel Hollis-

If y’all don’t know who Rachel Hollis is, stop what you’re doing now, and research who she is on your google bar pronto. Not only did she start and grow her multi-million dollar business from the ground, she is also a mother of four, a top motivational speaker, and #1 New York Times best-selling author of Girl, Wash Your Face! Her podcast is filled with wisdom and encouragement, and it targets an audience looking to transform their mindset, personal & business growth! You will appreciate her honesty, and will not be disappointed if you tune in. You will walk away feeling empowered and motivated to conquer just about anything.

-Rise Together Podcast with Rachel Hollis + Dave Hollis-

Okay, so another podcast with Rachel Hollis, BUT this one is with her husband, Dave Hollis. They host this podcast together, and they share plenty stories and experiences that help encourage your marriage to flourish strong and healthy. I find this podcast & their advice to be wise, and I love all the topics they touch on. Definitely a podcast you can relate to and apply to your everyday life if you’re married or in a committed relationship!

-The Real Life Podcast with Jeff & Alyssa Bethke

Wrapping up my Top 5 with one of the first podcasts I ever tuned in to. Jeff and Alyssa are a married couple who share grace and wisdom with their audience. They talk about their faith, parenting, culture, and so much more. This is definitely one of my favorite podcasts as they bring attention to the word of God, and they speak His truth in just about every episode. Check them out if you want to be filled with positivity, faith, and inspiration for personal development.

One thing all of these podcasts share in common that I love, is their faith and love for God. Along with all great things they have to offer in each and every episode, being reminded of the word and His truth keeps me grounded through my week.

5 Ways to Unplug and Recharge

Hello friends and welcome back! Today, I’m sharing some of my favorite ways to unplug and recharge those batteries of mine. It’s always so important to remind yourself to slow down once in a while, and unwind.

Starting with my favorite – Reading

I’ll be honest and admit that I recently picked up reading again a little over a year ago. And ever since, I’ve really enjoyed going to the book store and picking up a book or two to feed my soul with whatever is speaking to me at the moment. We’ve just entered March, and I’m halfway into my second book of the year. Setting my phone to the side, and reading a chapter (or a few pages) a day gives me a quick sense of the rest I need, even if it’s just for a few minutes.

Now, I find this one very important – Social Media Breaks

At the beginning of February, I took a very much needed break from Instagram. What was only supposed to be a weekend thing, ended up turning into an entire week’s break, and it felt so nice to disconnect from the media world. In order to disconnect and catch a break to reflect & and get re-inspired, a social media break is crucial, especially if you’re an influencer. Consuming so much of other people’s lives can sometimes lead to false assumptions & realities, and it’s always nice to remind yourself of your “why” and your purpose. If you’ve never had a social media break, I strongly recommend you take one every once in a while. You’ll come back feeling better than ever!

Quiet Time

I’ve mentioned this a couple times already, but quiet time in the mornings helps me focus & silence all distractions trying to steer me in the wrong direction. Journaling, meditating, praying, reading a devotional or the word, is an awesome way to start the morning. Set your phone to the side for the first hour or two, and enjoy a little quiet time to yourself before starting the day.

Pursue Your Passion/Pick Up a Hobby

We get so wrapped up in our daily lives that we sometimes forget to pursue that passion or hobby of ours. Find the time to pursue what you love, or pick up a new hobby if you don’t already have one. I love everything photography, so I really enjoy getting creative with shooting content and editing. Maybe you love to run marathons, or maybe you enjoy painting, whatever “sparks joy in your life”, do it! This is a great way to release those daily worries and stress.

And last but not least- Have a “YOU” day

Go on a coffee run by yourself, take a walk around your neighborhood, or go on a hike with your spouse or a friend. Find the beauty in simplicity. Whatever that looks like for you, take a day for yourself and spend your day worry-free and do something you’ve been longing for. Weekend road trips and brunch dates with my mom are some of my favorite things to do when I need a little pick-me-up.

Creating Habits For a More Productive Day

As a stay at home mom, it can be very easy to get side tracked if I don’t plan out my day and manage my time wisely. Today, I’m sharing 7 habits I love to follow at the start of my day to help me get organized, and help me stay focused and motivated throughout my day. I hope that you guys like this, and that it’s helpful to some of you wanting to implement a new routine at the start of your day!

Pray/Meditate

First and foremost, I like to start my day with a prayer. There is no better feeling than waking up with thanksgiving, and spending your first few minutes with The Lord. Some days I say a quick prayer, and others I dive deep into my devotional book and I spend a few minutes reading the word.

Make. The. Bed

Making the bed is so important to me. Having a bed made sets the tone for the day I want to have, and it gives me that extra push to get things done. If you’re not one who makes the bed every day, wake up tomorrow morning and get it done, you’ll see the huge difference it makes in your day!

Unplug From The World

NO social media first thing in the morning. This habit in particular has changed my entire day in ways you can’t even imagine. Block out the noise and dedicate those first few hours to yourself, and allow yourself to focus on what’s most important. I happen to get the most done in the morning right before I even jump on social media.

Set Goals For the Day – Write it Down!

Whether you prep your entire month by writing everything down on your planner or not, setting goals for the day helps you stay organized, and it helps as a reminder of what needs to get done that day. I can’t seem to function without writing down my plans for the day. I split my to-do’s into 3 different sections – my morning, afternoon, and my night. This helps me out tremendously! If you don’t already, write it down!

Shower/ Get Ready

I know I’m only stating the obvious, but as a SAHM it is so easy to get wrapped up in the daily chores, that if I’m being honest, we tend to shower late at night most of the time (hashtag mom life). Showering and getting out of my pjs changes my mood & sets a different tone for my day. Make it a priority to get ready before starting your day!

Feed Your Soul Wisdom and Knowledge

Those that know me, know that my family and I recently moved an hour away from the place we once called home. With that being said, it can get pretty lonely considering that my only friends in town are an eight, a four, and two year old. During the weekdays I love to listen to my favorite podcasts, worship music, read, and even watch or listen to church services online. Feeding my soul with the truth is essential, and they make my week that much better. Read a book that speaks to your soul, find a podcast that’s relatable to your lifestyle, or find a motivational speaker you enjoy listening to.

REST- Go to Bed Early

These days I truly enjoy going to bed early. Come 9, 10 o’clock, I’m ready for bed. I find that when I get the most rest at night, the more energy I have in the morning, and the better mood I wake up in. Turn off the TV, and give your brain the rest it needs so you can recharge as much as you can before the following morning. Another habit I want to take on within the next couple of weeks, is getting a head start before the kids are up and running. Going to bed early at night is preparing me for this next habit I want to include in my routine.

Having a routine is so important for us mamas, and even if you aren’t a parent, routines will always keep us grounded. Of course there are times that I fall off track, but I always go back to following these habits because they allow me to be the best version of myself. Maybe you like to get a work out in the morning, or maybe you like to start your day with a cup of coffee. Either way, I am rooting for you, find what works best for YOU.
